HILARY AND JACKIE : The Movie

Piers and Hilary du Pré's book, published in the UK as A GENIUS IN THE FAMILY is now available in the US under the title HILARY AND JACKIE. The book is published by Ballantine, ISBN 0-345-43271-1.

The movie based on the book, also called HILARY AND JACKIE,  will be shown first in the States on the 30th December.  It will then have three premieres in the UK in January. The first will be at the  Vineyard, Newbury, on the 16th, then in Liverpool on the 17th, followed by  London at the Barbican on the 20th.

The cast  includes:

Daniel Barenboim - James Frain
Kiffer (Hilary's husband, son of Gerald Finzi) - David Morrissey
Mrs. du Pre - Celia Imrie
Mr. du Pre - Charles Dance

According to Piers du Pré, the reviews have virtually all been stunning.  He says that the film is simply quite incredible, and the acting outstanding.  "It is true to the spirit and essence of the book in all detail. Quite  superb."  He also mentioned  that in the Sunday Times magazine of 29  November 1998,  a 4 page article appeared on the film and Emily Watson. "The opening words were 'Hilary and  Jackie is one of the best films of the decade'  Exciting...."
